The 53rd running of the Rolex 24 At Daytona has hit the half way point at Daytona International Speedway with Corvettes stealing the spotlight.

Corvette led both the Prototype and GTLM classes after 12 hours. The Jordan brothers and Max Angelli held the overall lead in their Wayne Taylor Racing No.10 machine over the Nos.02 and 01 Chip Gannassi Racing Ford-powered entries.

The result by Wayne Taylor Racing seemed unlikely hours ago when the team was still battling the traction control issue which had plagued them throughout the week.

The Daytona Prototypes still hold the advantage over the P2 cars. The Michael Shank Racing HPD Ligier remained in fourth but still on the lead lap while the lead Patrón Racing ESM car was just a lap down in fifth.

The earlier fuel pressure issues had pushed the reigning race winners Action Express Racing two laps down in sixth place.

Corvette held a strong 1-2 result with the No.4 taking its turn at the front with Oliver Gavin, Tommy Milner and Simon Pagenaud

The Jan Magnussen, Antonio Garcia and Ryan Briscoe car was second with the Falken Racing Porsche remaining in contenting in third place.

Porsche’s hope of repeating victory with the factory cars were shattered with both cars involved in impact with the Aston Martin, sending both cars to the garage and several laps off the lead.

At 1:33am the 007 Aston Martin and the 911 came together and the 912 with Earl Bamber driving had nowhere to go, hitting the 911. The 912 made it back to the pits with heavy right front damage, and the 911 was taken back on a tow truck with obvious rear suspension damage.
